Christmas and the festivals of the winter solstice symbolize the emergence of the inner light of our souls from outer darkness. This light is the radiance of our spirit, our essential self. Great teachers always affirm that the light we seek is the luminous presence of our own eternal being, the light that was "from the beginning." Who we are in our essential self was never born and will never die. To discover for ourselves this ancient eternal truth is the reason for our coming here. 

The sun's annual journey through the heavens is a cosmic image of the path of the human soul out of darkness into eternal light. On this journey we learn that in order to receive love and light, we must first learn to give and express love and light. Many have learned this essential life lesson of giving. It is also true that we must learn how to receive the gifts of the spirit. The universe is a cornucopia of abundance waiting to shower its blessings upon us. We must learn how to open our hearts and our souls to receive this light and these blessings. 

​Shamans are intermediaries between the worlds of spirit and matter. Join local shaman Jon Rasmussen as he shows us how to receive the blessings of the light. By connecting to spirit through our inner attitude, we open ourselves to a ceaseless stream of blessings and wisdom. Jon will lead us in a shamanic ritual for blessing and healing the world, and will guide us in a shamanic meditative journey to anchor the light.

Crystals and gemstones have been valued for thousands of years not only for their beauty but also for their healing and energizing properties. Ancient Taoist masters prescribed them, and in India the sages used them for their spiritual and vitalizing attributes as well as for ornament. Since the advent of the computer age there has been a revival of fascination with crystals and their properties. Quartz gemstones are semiconductors and can hold information stored as electrical energy and as subtle energy, what the ancient masters called chi, prana, or life force.

Valerie White has owned her own crystal shop, and has worked with crystals for decades. She will be teaching a class at Luminata in the properties and uses of these beautiful gifts from nature's storehouse. Come experience and learn about these powerful allies and the many ways they can assist us. Everyone who attends will receive a small pocket crystal as a gift.

This month Luminata presents a class on using a pendulum for healing and intuitive guidance, taught by author and teacher Joan Rose Staffen, and featuring her latest book, "The Book of Pendulum Healing." She offers clear, concise instructions for using ancient dowsing techniques, a modern pendulum, and 30 interrelated intuitive healing charts as a spiritual guidance system. The lessons provided are practical and suitable for beginners or seasoned practitioners. This dowsing process provides concrete answers and solutions to questions and other easy-to-learn healing techniques such as communication with the angelic realm, affirmative prayer, meditation, and aura clearing.
