"Awakening the Inner Light"
Talk and Shamanic Ritual with Jon Rasmussen

Friday, December 19th, 7:30 pm

The seasonal festivals at the time of the Winter Solstice represent symbolically the birth of the light in the human soul. The sun's annual cycle is a reminder of the eternal rebirth of nature and the spirit. The message of the solstice and winter holidays is that of perpetual new life. The universal cycles of motion continue in an everlasting dance of the cosmic spirit. Jon Rasmussen will give a talk on the subject of the perpetually recurring life of the spirit, and how we can contact and expand our inner light. Afterwards he will lead us in a shamanic ritual and guided journey.

"Divining with the Angels"
Workshop with Joan Rose Staffen

Friday, December 12th, 7:30 pm

Joan Rose Staffen has taught several highly successful workshops at Luminata. In “Divining with the Angels,” participants will use the tools of meditation, pendulum dowsing, and the “Intuitive Charts” developed by Joan Rose in her book, Divination & Joy, and the newly released book, Swimming the Inner Ocean. Joan will assist participants in learning to commune with and be guided by angelic guides and messengers. We will learn to use the pendulum charts, and give each other an intuitive reading with insights from the angels. Open to all, both novices and experienced pendulum dowsers. This will be an inspiring and entertaining evening.

“The Power of Grace”
Talk and Book Signing with David Richo
Friday, February 6
th, 7:30 pm

David Richo returns to Luminata for a talk on his latest book, The Power of Grace. Perhaps all of us have had experiences when things seem to fall into place almost effortlessly, seemingly even miraculously. These experiences come to us by grace, moments when life opens up and hands us a gift. This help from outside ourselves can be life changing. David Richo offers us teachings and practices that can help us open our eyes to sources of grace everywhere and in everyone. As we do so, we begin to see our lives through the lens of wonder, and we become vessels for its power to others.

David Richo is a popular teacher, therapist and workshop leader in Santa Barbara and San Francisco. He combines Jungian, Buddhist and mythic perspectives in his work, and helps people to live with compassion and mindfulness. He is the author of many books, including How to Be and Adult in Relationships, and The Five Things We Cannot Change.

“In Harmony with Nature”
Talk and Shamanic Ritual with Jon Rasmussen
Thursday, March 19th, 7:30 pm

We live in a time when technology and nature seem to be at war. Our world is bombarded with new technological innovations ceaselessly washing up on the shores of the current culture and it is hard for us as individuals to keep up with the changes. At the same time, nature is being adversely impacted by the impact of scientific and technological achievements that have led to sprawling cities and environmental pollution and toxicity on a widespread scale.

Jon Rasmussen will address the theme of living in harmony with nature. This is something that traditional indigenous cultures have achieved and have been able to maintain through countless millennia. The shamanic and indigenous societies have much to teach us about balancing advances in the techno world with the eternal rhythms of nature. Jon will give a talk followed by a guided shamanic journey.

Jon Rasmussen is a well-known local shaman and author of Dreaming Your World into Being. His shamanic studies include apprenticeship with world famous shaman Alberto Villoldo, and tutelage in the Andes with the mysterious Q’ero Indians of Peru.

Love offerings accepted.
